5. Chinese people make caring for the elderly a major priority.
This is not only respectable and admirable, it is truly inspiring to see. The importance that Chinese people put on caring for parents in their old age is something that isn't quite the priority in the West. Perhaps most people in the West have adequately prepared for their latter years of life and don't need as much assistance from their children. But what inspires me most about Chinese people is that there is truly a heartfelt connection that motivates them to care for their elderly parents - a family strength of connectedness.
6. Chinese people let things go and learn from them.
Americans can't easily do this. We remember wrongs done to us for several years after they happened. Chinese are excellent at doing this. I'm not saying that Chinese are naive. They aren't. They simply let things go and learn from them. Perhaps this involves knowing who not to associate or have connections with. But, they don't dog and criticize people they're angry with as we do in the West.
7. Chinese treat foreigners exceptionally well
With the often negative press in the West regarding China, Chinese people treat me with such respect like I've never encountered before. Of course, I show them the same respect in return. But, as we say in the West, what goes around comes around. If you show yourself a kind person, you will get so much kindness shown to you that you'll be truly amazed.
8. You can live and travel in China without worry of crime
The only crimes I ever hear about is an occasional e-bike or e-bike batteries getting stolen. I knew a foreign teacher who taught at the first school that I taught at here in Henan. She and I sat down on a park bench to talk one day. She forgot and left her purse hanging on the back of the park bench. Long story short, an elderly man found it and went to great lengths to find her and return her purse to her with everything still intact.
